The gate works great and can be used in many areas and in many ways. I wish I'd had this when the neighbor's peacocks kept sunning themselves on my deck and leaving 'deposits' to the point I couldn't use it without scrubbing it first. So not only is it good for kids and pets but the neighbor's critters too! The indoor/outdoor gate is easy to operate and saves a lot of time because once installed its handy to use. I find it helpful with the longer gates to hold it as it retracts so it doesn't go to fast or retract at an angle. I appreciate not having to constantly be moving the old-style gates out of the way. I like the color black for gates because my home is mostly dark colors, and I find that while noticeable it isn't as glaring for the area I ordered it for.The unit arrives boxed with an instruction manual and hardware. The box itself had a gash in its side but that didn't phase me at all because it was sealed on both ends, so I knew it hadn't been opened before (and everything was also in a bag, so I knew it was fully intact). This would make for a great gift! Made in China.Additional notes ~ I also ordered another gate but am unable to review it separately due to guidelines. Gone are the days of the clumsy, unsightly and hard-to-hide baby/pet gates. The gate is easy to open and close although I do I hold the gate as it retracts and help guide it to ensure it goes back into the correct position. Due to the large size of the gate, there are many options for use. I live in a heavily wooded area and the gate helps keep wild animals from entering the pet zone. The retractable gates take a bit longer to install (not bad) but once it's done it saves a lot of time since you don't have to fuss with solid gates, continually move them or find a hiding spot for it when company is coming. I like the dark colored gates as they match my home better.As with the first gate, it arrives sealed on both ends, with a user manual and all the hardware needed to install. Obviously, I have ordered from this company previously and would purchase from them in the future. Made in China.
