For smaller infants, the waist belt can sit up higher, so that babies head and neck can be supported by the sun cover panel. When baby grows enough to face forward, the sun cover panel can be folded down and snapped into place to make more room.Even the leg openings have a good bit of padding around them, and the side straps insure that the little one cannot fall out sideways. This carrier meets all safety requirements set forth by both the ASTM and CPSIA, and going by how well it is built, likely exceeds them.The outer fabric is all cotton, and definitely eye catching with its camouflage design. It is also machine washable, although the manufacturer does suggest putting it in a laundry bag first. When I ordered this baby carrier it was selling for $119, but today it is on sale with a 30% coupon off that price. Since it is honestly the best built baby carrier I've ever seen, I think even at regular price it's a fair value. After all, it is so practical and sturdy that it could be used many times over for different kids.
