This gate is great if you are looking for something that is longer than your standard baby kind of gate. The first thing I will say is that you do sacrifice durability for more length. It has a longer extension for more coverage which is great if you happen to want to block off a big area like a pool. I used this mostly for my pool area when my nephews come over. You can detach gate and it will retract to open the area which is an advantage those metal baby gates do not have. In this case, I needed that extra space for my pool area. I will say that the gate has started to yellow a bit due to the sun light hitting it. It does come with four pieces to attach to the sides of the gate to hold it in place. I will say if you are putting this outside that the heat may cause it to lose tension. Also this gate is strong in stitching but it can be knocked over with another weight which is the down side of using a gate like this. My golden retriever is able to jump on the top and drag the gate down. My nephews though are not able to get past this but can press against it. That being said, the gate is very easy to install. It is easy to open and close for an adult but the lock makes it difficult for a child. You can easily open the gate with one hand so if you are trying to hold your child and open the gate it is doable. It will retract if you pull and let go. The gate is easy to adjust in length and the retract has not has any issues.. Another thing I will say about this is that the gate material is very sturdy. Short of cutting it with a knife, it should not rip or fray. It is relatively easy to install and setup which I like. Overall I think this gate is great if you are just looking to block off a certain areas. It does well against small kids and smaller animals but big animals may actually be able to break this down over time even though it is sturdy and secure. That is the draw back on these. It is also easy to install and use with one hand if needed. It gives you more coverage than a traditional baby gate which is what you would want this for.
