Our kids are excited to pack their suitcases and ride them around the airport. The suitcases look sturdy and I think they are the right size for our 4-yo twin boys. I worried that they would get tired of dragging it around and I would have to lug it around but the pull strap doubles as an over the shoulder strap. We bought two and expect that it will help keep them occupied during our layover. We bought this for a recent trip to Washington that would involve two flights there and two flights back. Read lots of reviews, watched videos, and decided to pull the trigger on one right before we left. I had this vision of my toddler happily riding this through the airport instead of me carrying him around everywhere. Upon opening the box and inspecting the unit, I wasn't super impressed with the quality for how much these things cost ($50+). Nothing in particular was broken or failing to work, but the unit in its entirety feels cheaply made. My 2.5 year old is pretty small for his age, and he seemed on the verge of being too big to ride this suitcase. The unit was smaller than I expected, so when my toddler sits on it, it just looks a bit awkward. Another issue we encountered was there is nothing to hold onto while riding except the black "horns" protruding from the front. For some reason I though he would be holding onto the black straps on the top but it turned out that isn't realistic, as they actually sit on those straps. Unfortunately having to hold onto the horns causes the toddler to awkwardly lean and hunch forward to be able to ride. I believe this in part is one of the main reasons he lost interest in riding it so quickly once we arrived at the airport. Another quirk is the front wheels don't pivot, so to turn you have to yank on the tow strap left or right constantly to get it to change direction. A bit tricky on tile, but quite awkward on carpet. Between the quirky steering, small size, and awkward riding position, my toddler quickly lost interest. At the airport in Washington, we spotted another dad holding a toddler in his arms and pulling a riderless Trunki. My wife and I glanced at each other and gave that "look" to one another as we also carried our toddler pulling our riderless Trunki behind us struggling to get it to follow due to the non swiveling front wheels. Maybe I was expecting to much, but in the end it just didn't seem practical for the price.I have two kids and 3 trunkis. I give it 3 stars because until recently, we thought they were absolutely fabulous. We bought two while living in Australia for my then-almost-2-year-old daughter and then-3-year-old-son. We took them on a handful - maybe 4? - international trips, and always pulled the children through airports on them while they rode on top. I understand what people say about the wheels not turning making them hard to pull, but my husband and I never found that to be a problem. They turned well enough for us to use. Never a problem with any aspect of construction, fits under the seat, holds toys, a change of clothes, jammies and a jacket - perfect for a carryon. Then on our most recent trip, my now-4 year old son, who weighs 40 pounds, rode on his trunki as he always does. My husband noticed it was hard to pull. We investigated when we got home and found that one of the front wheels had melted and fused to the case - apparently it began rubbing at some point and the friction caused the plastic to melt and fuse when it cooled. Since he's well under the weight limit and they've been great until now, we thought it was just a fluke and when another trip came up we ordered him this updated model. He's still 40 pounds. We pulled him while riding from security to our gate, and upon arrival at our destination found the same problem - a front wheel is jammed into the case and with any more use, I'm sure it will fuse, too. He couldn't pull it up the road to our hotel, so we had to carry yet another case when we were counting on towing it (for the record - we only pull the kids in airports - never on a rough surface like a road, although we do pull the case without rider on sidewalks, etc, while traveling and they're not allowed to use them as toys, so they haven't had a chance to treat them 'badly'). We're so disappointed, both because they've been such a great product for us until the last 2 trips and the kids absolutely love them - my son will be heartbroken that we won't be pulling him on the return trip. I would not buy another for any child over 30 pounds in weight and am now expecting my daughter's to fail soon, too.The two kids I have (currently 5YO and 3YO) found this very fun and entertaining when traveling from the East Coast to the West Coast (via four plane rides and 4 airports) this past month. Their cousins- who traveled with us and their parents- loved it too. They would all take turns riding on it and/or pulling it around. They made up songs about the bumblebee and just really enjoyed it. I would HIGHLY recommend this to anyone who has small~ish children like mine. The reasons it did not get 5 out of 5 stars: The strap is probably a perfect length for a kid, but for your average size adult (that is me) it was a bit short and therefore annoying; my kids will, very soon, be too long/tall to truly enjoy this type of suitcase as something to "play with" but of course they can still use it and it will function as a roller suitcase- that they cannot ride (which makes me think that it will be the perfect thing to hand-down to another family member or friend who travels with younger kids through airports); the inside strap that you connect to "hold things" on one side of the suitcase is a joke. Otherwise it is a functioning suitcase the could pack TONS of fun with you on your next trip! This is the second trunkie we have bought for our youngest having loved a gruffalo one that my 4 year old still uses. There is plenty of space inside to pack all the essentials and clothes for your child. The case itself is very sturdy the clips are good quality and I like that you can twist to lock the clips to close the case so adds a little extra security. The design is great and my youngest loves to sit on it and ride along on it and also pushes it. Pretty much an all round great childs case.Case arrived on time but was stored away from kids until airport. At the airport the wheel broke off when my grandson sat on it (he is only 2 1/2 very slim built). On return home I contacted the seller and provided photos. Customer services have been absolutely amazing and replacement case is on its way. I did buy two cases from Trunki and no issue with the other so odiously just a fault in the one. Will definitely buy for this company again. Our kids loved these and it was quite handy but it did keep popping open with the amount we put in which wasn’t really that much but clearly this suitcase is for a very light load and it was a bit annoying. Very aesthetically please but not that practical. It was a surprise for my 5 year old girl she loves it too much. She loves it, the best thing you can buy for your kids. Easy to handle ans pull when on holiday. Its more like a toy than travel bag lool. Best buy at the moment. Wheels look tough and strong what you need when you go on holiday. Nice buyLove it!!! My son is so happy when we traveling, you can fit lots of clothes books toys! Really Good value of money! Would buy this bag again in the future.. not cheap but worth the money!
