Terrific soundtrack....most of the music from one of my favorite films about our changing culture in the fifties and music like this had a lot to do with those changes.... The movie houses with the 3D glasses, motorcycles, leather jackets, The swimming holes...on real fresh water lakes, the weirdos peddling smut, Polio shots, slicked back greasy hair, Prison scenes, debutantes at the country clubs, teenage sex and pregnancy, Playing chicken "ala" Rebel Without a cause, The rebel flag (a symbol of rebellion not racism), iron lungs, school crossing guards and more. Cameos by Troy Donahue, Patty Hearst, Joey Dallesandro, Joey Heatherton, Polly Bergen, Iggy Pop, Traci Lords and more.... It was cheesy and corny, just like the movies made in those times. The movie had every thing from the fifties and this soundtrack has captured the atmosphere and sound perfectly. To me this movie and soundtrack is better than Grease and all of the other flicks trying to catch the essence of those times. Some actual hits and very good original music. This movie should've been a big hit. It was hilarious and a little darker than most audiences like. This is John Waters at his best, better than Hairspray. If you liked the movie ...you'll love this.....the music..."a little hillbilly...a little colored".
